Eight Corvette C8s were stolen from the Chevrolet factory in Kentucky, United States, after thieves cut a hole in the fence to break into the facility.

The theft was only discovered when police found one of the cars abandoned in an apartment complex, still with factory stickers. After verification, General Motors confirmed the disappearance of the vehicles.

Some of the cars were found in the parking lot of a Lowe’s Home Improvement store in Bowling Green, where the criminals were attempting to sell them. Speculation arose that a Corvette ZR1 had also been taken, but Chevrolet clarified that the model spotted at the location belonged to a factory employee assisting in the recovery of the vehicles.

A suspect, Deantae Walker, 21, was arrested. Reports indicate that the thieves were trying to transport the cars out of the region, but damage to the lower parts of the vehicles was noticed by transporters and tow truck operators.

In the end, all the stolen Corvettes were recovered and returned to the factory.
